New home construction is on the rise! Recent Commerce Department reporting shows an overall increase of 13.2% in housing starts since March, which greatly exceeded analyst’s expectations. Although this is expected to contribute to the economic recovery, builders know more has to happen before it’s truly time to break out the champagne. In fact, while the Commerce Department was reporting these record highs, the same L.A. Times story noted that the National Assn. of Home Builders in May was reporting record lows: in builder confidence. This is because the new home cycle is not complete until the units are sold, and people are moving into their own versions of the American dream. How can a new development stand out from all the rest and attract quality buyers? Architectural photography is the answer.

Architectural photography is perfect for showcasing the exteriors and interiors of model homes and planned communities. It can highlight unique design features and available options in facades and materials. Inside, buyers can be inspired by tastefully staged rooms with window views. Offering large scale views of the development is an important perk of architectural photography. It gives potential home buyers a true to life idea of where they will be living, including amenities like parks, pools, roadways and community centers. These stunning images are ideal for single family and multifamily developments, and perfectly compliment the information in brochures and advertisements.

As anyone in sales will tell you, you’re not selling the steak, you’re selling the sizzle. This could not be truer in a field like new housing development, where it can be a challenge to distinguish the features of one project over another. With building starts on the rise, savvy developers will know to turn to architectural photography to capture their sizzle and sell more units.
